We were a Family of Eleven. Catholics, living in a small Indiana town, in the middle of the Bible-Belt. This is how it happened, or least how I remember it.

Happy Birthday to Me!
I wanted to share this birthday collage Teresa sent me. The question is, "Who is the boy standing beside Ron in the picture at the top middle, wearing the Russian hat?
If you look carefully, I'm riding a girl's bike in the picture on thee bottom. Arrrrrrg! It's coming back like a bad dream...Dad got the last two bikes available, on special, from Montgomery Ward. When they were delivered, it turned out one was a red boys bike and one was a blue GIRLS bike.
Dad told me I should just be glad to have a new bike. Of course Dennis got the Red boys bike because he was Dad's favorite!
The only bike I remember having was put together from pieces that I dragged home from the town dump. But you have a better memory and if I did get first dibs on the red bike it was cause I was older and there- for above you in pecking order. (You always did resist the natural order of things). The boy in the picture with the hat was Rons best friend at that time. I think his name was Brian. He was a big kid, almost fat, but he could run faster than anyone. He later became the football star at high school. Big and fast.
Chickey???????.......Whitey??????????.........Chickey White maybe?????? Is that the boy next to Rons in the photo?
Now regarding your bicycle woes. Mom ordered Anna and I bicycles from Montgomery Wards when we were about 7&8. This was a HUGE deal. Anna and I would sit on the retaining wall by the Dyer's home for hours, and wait and watch for the semi-truck we imagined would deliver our shiny new bicycles.
The bicycles finally arrived but they were not safe from my brothers who used and abused them on their paper routes.
John, you were the one, not that I'm still bitter (ok maybe I'm still holding onto it a little), you were the one riding it when the frame broke apart.
And I'm not counting or anything, but the next bicycle I ever owned in Oconomowoc, a red three speed, was stolen when left out after being used by you John on your paper route.
No, I do not believe that is Chick White, too big for him. I was amused at the photo with the neighbor children, is this Sheila and Peggy Tansel along with the Witmer children?

I need to let go of some of this stuff.
Anyone know a good therapist?
I like your frayed shorts and the fact that your getting flies with a rubber band in the top left photo.
